The Patriots took a risk drafting Drake Maye. He needs a ton of work in our eyes and early reports from Jerod Mayo suggest as much. In taking Maye, they need to not make the mistakes of the prior regime (with Mac Jones) and build a competent weapons group. The Patriots tried this in the 2nd by way overdrafting Ja’Lynn Polk out of Washington. We had a Day 3 grade on him, and do not see him being more than someone like Kendrick Bourne (which they already have). However, in the 4th they took Javon Baker. Baker is who they should have taken in the 2nd, and got very lucky he was still there. Baker has the makings of a number 1 in an offense, something that the Patriots truly need. Do not be surprised if the motivation of falling to the 4th, combined with the opportunity for targets, results in an Amon Ra St Brown type career for Baker.
