2024 NFL Combine: Prospects We Think Will Crush the Combine

With the 2024 NFL Combine under way this week, yesterday we covered the players we believe have something to prove at the Combine. Today we are covering the prospects(that we’ve scouted so far) that we believe are going to be workout warriors, draw attention in positional drills or both. Expect most of these names to be on the rise next week.

Jared Wiley, TE, TCU

Wiley is 6’7 but you would never know it by the way he moves on the field. He is more than an athletic project as well, and should be the best athlete at the position with draft stock on the rise.

AJ Barner, TE, Michigan

Barner is a massive sleeper that has actually gained attention on the main circuit. He was the TE2 at Michigan, but has every down TE1 potential with his athleticism and run blocking.

Jaheim Bell, TE, FSU

Bell is a fantastic athlete at the position. While a tad undersized, he should test very well athletically and run great routes. Showing any kind of blocking ability can only help.

Xavier Legette, WR, South Carolina

If people think Nabers is fast, then Legette could break the combine with his testing. We are calling our shot of him running in the low 4.3s at over 225 pounds. He is also incredibly explosive and should jump very well.

Brian Thomas Jr, WR, LSU

We feel Brian Thomas Jr has a good chance to be the biggest winner from this year’s combine. He is a great athlete that should run well, bench decent, and jump very well. We actually like Thomas more than Nabers, and the combine could further this opinion.

Ladd McConkey, WR, Georgia

McConkey is going to run a 40 that will shock some people. He is not your typical slot only receiver, as he has true blazing speed to pair with the best route running in the class. He is like a running back with the ball in his hands and we look forward to him showing off in the combine.

Troy Fautanu, OL, Washington

Fautanu is our top offensive linemen overall. In the athletic testing we believe that Fautanu will test well, but don’t think it will be “freak-ish”, but he should absolutely crush the positional drills. He has good, quick feet, and moves really well.

Sedrick Van Pran, C, Georgia

From athletic testing to positional drills we think SVP is going to be a winner of the combine. He moves well and is pretty quick. Strength is not in question, and mentally is a leader and knowledgeable. Unfortunately a lot of our concerns in his game are not things he can prove he’s better at, at the Combine.

Christian Jones, OT, Texas

Jones is a tackle prospect we are much higher on than most. We believe that Jones mixes a nice blend of strength with good footwork and an ability to move really well. We are going to be watching his positional drills more so than the athletic testing. We want to see if his lateral movement and kick step have improved since the season, but overall think he is going to jump up boards during his time in Indy.

Byron Murphy II, DT, Texas

Simply put, at 308 pounds, he should test like a true freak athlete with eye popping athleticism traits.

Chop Robinson, EDGE, Penn State

This edge class, in our opinion, is filled far more with technically sound rushers than athletic specimens. However, Chop is the lone guy in the upper tier that could do very very well in the athletic testing. We wager his testing will have him thought of as a pass rushing linebacker that can drop back if needed rather than a true end.

Steele Chambers, LB, Ohio State

We truly believe that Steele Chambers has the ability on March 4, 2024 to be called the biggest winner of the NFL Combine. Chambers looks fast and twitchy on film. He also looks like a very fluid mover with loose smooth hips. From the 40 to the positional drills we think he is going to shine.

Ty’Ron Hopper, LB, Missouri

Hopper is an explosive LB that we saw sideline to sideline speed with. We believe that Hopper will test well all around.

Max Melton, CB, Rutgers

We noted in Melton’s profile that we believe he could be a candidate to run the fastest 40 in this year’s draft class.

Quinyon Mitchell, CB, Toledo

It truly feels like Mitchell has checked all the boxes(Senior Bowl practice in particular) except for good game tape. Mitchell probably won’t test freakishly, but will probably test good with a good day in positional drills. We saw pretty fluid hips and pretty good footwork in the tape.

TJ Tampa, CB, Iowa State

For starters, Tampa has good size and length for a CB. While scouting Tampa we noted that he has fluid hips and feels like someone who should do well in the positional drills. We also think he looks fast, and will run faster than people think.

Tykee Smith, Nickel, Georgia

Smith is a prospect we’ve been high on before people saw him ball at the Senior Bowl. We noted in his profile he probably won’t blow anyone away with his athletic testing but he should catch eyes during positional drills.
