2023 NFL Mock Draft 2.0

This is The Gridiron Review’s Mock Draft 2.0. This mock will factor in combine performances as well as all NFL transactions made to date leading up to Free Agency Frenzy.

Our projected trades are at the bottom of the mock.

  1. Carolina Panthers(VIA CHI)- Anthony Richardson, QB, Florida
  2. Las Vegas Raider(Proj. Trade w/ HOU)- CJ Stroud, QB, Ohio State
  3. Indianapolis Colts(Proj. Trade w/ ARI)- Bryce Young, QB, Alabama
  4. Arizona Cardinals(Proj. Trade w/ IND)- Will Anderson Jr., EDGE, Alabama
  5. Seattle Seahawks(VIA Denver Broncos)- Jalen Carter, DL, Georgia
  6. Detroit Lions(VIA Los Angeles Rams)- Christian Gonzalez, CB, Oregon

This pick doesn’t change from our last mock. Christian Gonzalez solidified himself as our CB1 after an outstanding Combine performance. Lions need help at CB and Gonzalez should make an impact on day one while also having a high ceiling.

  1. Houston Texans(Proj. Trade w/ LV)- Myles Murphy, EDGE, Clemson
  2. Atlanta Falcons- Zay Flowers, WR, Boston College
  3. Chicago Bears(VIA CAR)- Paris Johnson Jr., OL, Ohio State

Now that the Bears have traded back, this has to be an offensive lineman. Fields now have a WR1 in DJ Moore which rounds out a strong, young core at WR. Fields was sacked 55 times last season, and he needs protection up front if they want him to succeed.

  1. Philadelphia Eagles (VIA New Orleans Saints)- Devon Witherspoon, CB, Illinois

The Eagles could go so many different directions with this pick. It’s truly hard to tell what they are going to do with all they are losing mixed with minimal cap and minimal draft capital. We are waiting for more dominoes to fall, but based on what we know right now CJGJ and Bradberry are not expected to come back. Slay was also given permission to seek a trade. They are going to need a new CB, and Witherspoon can be that guy in Philly.

  1.  Tennessee Titans- Nolan Smith, EDGE, Georgia
  2. Houston Texans(VIA Cleveland Browns)- Darnell Washington, TE, Georgia
  3. Green Bay Packers(VIA NYJ)- Quentin Johnston, WR, TCU
  4. New England Patriots- Anton Harrison, OT, Oklahoma

The Patriots have several different directions they could go with this pick. Isaiah Wynn is set to be a FA, and we assume Belichick and company are going to prioritize either bringing him back or replacing him. Anton Harrison is a prospect we are much higher on than others, but the Pats are known for developing lineman and coming off a strong combine, the Pats could be intrigued by Harrison much like they were Strange last year.

  1. Green Bay Packers- Lukas Van Ness, DL, Iowa
  2. Washington Commanders- Dalton Kincaid, TE, Utah
  3. Pittsburgh Steelers- Broderick Jones, OT, Georgia

After a strong combine, Broderick Jones would be a steal here at 17. We know Steelers fans are praying for the team to take Jordan Addison, but we feel like he is trending in the wrong direction. Also, the offensive line has not been great. They started to fix the line last year with Mason Cole and James Daniels in FA and they continue to keep Pickett protected with Jones in the first round.

  1. Detroit Lions- Bryan Bresee, DL, Clemson
  2. Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Deonte Banks, CB, Maryland

Deonte Banks was a player who’s tape wasn’t great. He looked like he had a decent amount of developing to do. One of my biggest issues with him was that he showed inconsistent speed on tape. He ran a 4.35, and tested extremely well all around in Indy. Although he could use some development he has probably worked himself into the first round. The Bucs could take a chance on athletic upside in the same way they did Dean and Murphy-Bunting.

  1. Seattle Seahawks- Kelee Ringo, CB, Georgia

Another one of our picks that stayed the same from our last mock. I think Ringo had a good Combine, but I didn’t love it the same way other people did. I was hoping to see a little bit more from Ringo, but I still think he has more development to do than everyone thinks. Ringo should get the coaching he needs here in Seattle.

  1. Los Angeles Chargers- Jalin Hyatt, WR, Tennessee
  2. Baltimore Ravens- Jaxon Smith-Njigba, WR, Ohio State
  3. Minnesota Vikings- Drew Sanders, LB, Arkansas

In a move to get under the cap, the Vikings cut longtime leader and one of the best LBs in football, Eric Kendricks. If Kendricks was cut we expect Hicks to be cut soon considering the Vikings are still not under. They drafted Brian Asamoah last year, but they are still going to need another starter. Sanders would be an absolute steal this late in the first.

  1. Jacksonville Jaguars- Peter Skoronski, OL, Northwestern

Let’s preface this pick by saying Skoronski could go higher than this especially after a strong combine. However, overall we do have lineman falling down the board a bit in this mock. I wasn’t as high on Skoronski’s tape as everyone else. It’s also hard to tell where teams are going to try to play him. For those reasons, he lands here at 24 with Jacksonville who could use help at guard and have a hole at tackle with Jawaan Taylor’s contract expiring.

  1. New York Giants- Jordan Addison, WR, USC
  2. Dallas Cowboys- Bijan Robinson, RB, Texas
  3. Buffalo Bills- Cody Mauch, OL, North Dakota State

Toothless and ruthless… tell me Bills fans wouldn’t absolutely love that! Although I think Mauch would be best suited as a tackle, he does have flexibility across the offensive line as shown during Senior Bowl week. It’s doubtful Mauch would replace Dawkins or Brown at tackle, but could find a home at one of the Bill’s guard spots.

  1. Cincinnati Bengals- Michael Mayer, TE, Notre Dame
  2. New Orleans Saints(VIA DEN-VIA MIA-VIA SF)- Jahmyr Gibbs, RB, Alabama
  3. Philadelphia Eagles- Calijah Kancey, DL, Pitt
  4. Kansas City Chiefs- Darnell Wright, OT, Tennessee

After losing the Super Bowl to Tampa Bay a few years ago, the Chiefs heavily addressed the offensive line. A big reason why the Chiefs won the Super Bowl this year was because of stellar offensive line play. Both tackles, Brown and Wylie, have expiring contracts. Wright was a big winner of the Combine for multiple reasons and would be a great value here at 31.
