2023 NFL Combine Winners Day 3

It was the most stacked group (position wise) at the Combine and a lot of impressive performances across the Quarterbacks, Wide Receivers, and Tight ends. Here are our NFL Combine Winners Day 3.

Anthony Richardson

The best athletic testing ever seen at the combine for a quarterback. His throwing motion looked incredibly clean compared to his motion in college. That alone could have been enough to make him a winner, but then he put on a show in throwing drills. His throws on the go routes should be featured in highlights for years to come. It is no longer ridiculous to consider a team trading up to #1 to take him.

CJ Stroud

Stroud may have had the best pure throwing day as far as accuracy and anticipation goes. It may have been the most consistent throwing session ever seen at the combine. Almost every throw was on the money and effortless. He shakes off a rocky answer to who he looks up to and should be considered the best quarterback prospect in terms of safeness vs upside.

Dorian Thompson Robinson

DTR is a prospect we are higher on than most. His leadership and hustle are absolutely elite traits. He ran the second best 40 today depending on who you ask (behind only Richardson’s ridiculous run), had the fastest clocked throw recorded at 62 mph, and showed off enough arm strength to make the throws. His accuracy was spotty and he should sit for a year after being drafted, but there is no reason to suspect our comp of Jalen Hurts is wrong after the combine.

Jarren Hall

Hall is someone we are not particularly high on, especially combining his lack of refinement with his age. That being said, he looked very good on short and intermediate throws at the combine, rarely missing. His arm strength is still not the best but his stock is pointing up.

Stetson Bennett

Stetson ran an impressive 40 time while looking like he was barely pushing 75%. His throws were not always accurate, but he showed more than enough arm strength. His 59 mph velocity was tied with many including “the cannon” Will Levis, and his deep throws were beautiful. He should be a third rounder who immediately becomes one of the better backups in football while he develops.

Tyson Bagent

We thought Bagent was disappointing at the Senior Bowl, and was flirting with going undrafted. Decent testing and a pretty good day throwing has him trending back in the right direction.

Bryce Ford-Wheaton

A relatively unknown prospect heading into the combine, Wheaton is most certainly on radars now. At 6’4, he ran in the 4.3s, jumped a 41 inch vertical, a 10’9 inch broad. That athletic profile puts him in very elite company.

Matt Landers

Much like Wheaton, Landers has not been on many radars despite a decent season for Arkansas. However he ran a 4.37 40 yard dash while being 6’4”. Expect a team to give him a long look as a developmental, high upside prospect.

All the tight ends class (Especially Zack Kuntz, Darnell Washington, and Sam LaPorta)

This is one of the best tight end classes ever, and the combine proved this. Even without Dalton Kincaid (who was hurt), no prospect ran over 5.0 40 yard dash. They also all looked capable in the receiver drills. Zack Kunts measured in at 6’7 and ran a ludacris 4.55 yard dash. He jumped well and seems like a major upside tight end to be taken on day 2.

Sam LaPorta is our top ranked tight end, and he showed off the athleticism and receiving ability that has him ranked there. The reason he is a winner, though, is his rep on the sled. While not great, it showed a much improved form compared to his college film. Lastly, Darnell Washington tested like the unicorn he is, and his sled rep was the best you may ever see from a tight end. He looked extremely comfortable and skilled in the gauntlet which is a great sight for a player with limitless upside.
