After officially beginning our in-depth film study, we are here to bring you our pre-combine Mock Draft 1.0! Even though this is released mid combine, all of these picks are based on film study and we will have another mock with combine performances being taken into account soon!
- Jacksonville Jaguars- Evan Neal, OT, Alabama
The Jacksonville Jaguars need to protect their franchise QB Trevor Lawrence. While there are a few tackles, none of them are the top prospects in this draft. It does not matter, however, as the Jags need to prioritize Lawrence after a very bad first season on all fronts.
- Detroit Lions- Kyle Hamilton, S, Notre Dame
This team overperformed projections, and they seem to have a great coach in Dan Campbell. They have been in the basement of the NFL for a long time, but they finally seem on the way up with a great leader in Campbell. The Lions have their pick of the elite defensive prospects here. Since their pass rushers are hardly their biggest need, the team could use a superstar safety who we feel is the top prospect in the draft overall.
- Houston Texans- Aidan Hutchinson, EDGE/DL, Michigan
This team is a mess. Maybe Lovie Smith is or is not the guy for the future. Either way they need help at all positions except LT and maybe QB. We think they go for the best player available, which is Aiden Hutchinson. He is more raw than people think, but his size and motor and current skills could result in a great player. You instantly get a much needed leader on that defense and you just hope you have the coaches in place to teach him and help him maximize his potential.
- New York Jets- Charles Cross, OT, Mississippi State
According to reports we are hearing, the Jets are really unhappy with Mekhi Becton, and Morgan Moses is an aging free agent. We have even heard that Becton is not guaranteed a starting position next year. They need to continue building around Zach Wilson, and that starts with the line. He was hit way too many times, and nothing can crush development faster for a quarterback
- New York Giants- “Sauce” Gardener, CB, Cincinnati
The Giants are reportedly looking to move two of their stars in Barkley and Bradberry. Bradberry seems the more likely of the two as he would free up the cap they need. If this happens he will need to be replaced. In comes Ahmad “Sauce” Garder. He didn’t allow more than 13 yards to any receiver lined up across from him this past season and hasn’t given up a single TD in his entire college career. At 6”3 and 200 pounds, he has the size to match the production.
- Carolina Panthers- Kenny Pickett, QB, Pittsburgh
I did not want to believe the hype around Pickett, but it is definitely warranted. He has all the tools to be a successful player in the NFL. He is one of two quarterbacks in our eyes that can be day one starters if need be. Pickett should come in and compete with Darnold on day one, and use his great accuracy and athleticism to operate the offense that the Panthers wanted to with Darnold.
- New York Giants (Originally Bears)- George Karlaftis, EDGE/DL, Purdue
Perhaps the biggest surprise when looking at the tape, Karlaftis has all of the tools to be the best pass rusher to come out of this draft. He has a very quick step off the edge for a guy his size. Has the speed to get around the tackle, but also the power to bully a tackle. He also has flexibility to play inside and outside and the Giants take that flexibility that new DC Martindale prioritizes.
- Atlanta Falcons- Treylon Burks, WR, Arkansas
Burks is extremely raw in the nuances of being a wide receiver. He did not show a lot of routes run at college, but Arkansas also did not run a very creative offense. What Burks does have is great build up speed, really good hands, and pretty good RAC ability for a player of his size. His potential is massive and the Falcons need more weapons, especially if Calvin Ridley is on his way out. He is not the safest wide receiver or our WR 1, but he does have the highest ceiling possibly.
- Denver Broncos- Kayvon Thibodeaux, EDGE, Oregon
When watching the tape on him, the hype that he has received does not show in our opinion. Physically he seems to have potential, but he offers little in terms of pass rushing moves and seems to want to bull rush everyone for a player that is supposed to rely on more speed than power. His is a major project in our eyes that may never reach the heights that he has been discussed for years now. A Clowney comp is what we gave in so many ways. The Broncos make a lot of sense here as they have Chubb who learned from Von Miller and who can teach Kayvon and he can have as much time as needed to develop.
- New York Jets (Originally Seahawks)- Ikem Ekwonu, OT/OG, North Carolina State
The Jets double dip at offensive lineman early in this draft. Ekwonu has a lot of potential, but also has a lot of developing to do. He is listed as a tackle but, like our comp of Ereck Flowers, may do best kicking inside to guard. Either way he comes with positional flexibility and the Jets add more protection for their young quarterback.
- Washington Commanders- Derek Stingley, CB, LSU
Stingley will not be participating in the combine due to surgery recovery. Talent wise he may be the number one or two prospects in this draft. However, injuries have derailed what was a massive start to his college career. It is unsure whether or not he will put it all together after his freshman season, but the Commanders continue building up their defense by taking a chance on him here.
- Minnesota Vikings- Kenyon Green, OG, Texas A&M
The Vikings could go a few different routes here, and a lot of it may depend on the future of Kirk Cousins. Assuming he stays, they need to add help to the offensive line. They may go center here, but Green gives them a player who can play both guard and tackle spots.
- Cleveland Browns- Garrett Wilson, WR, Ohio State
It is unknown what Cleveland may be thinking. They could add pass rushing help for Myles Garrett, but they could also do that in free agency. It may be difficult convincing free agent wide receivers to go there after OBJ and Landry both not working out the way people thought. So they may have to draft someone. We are not as high on Wilson as others, however Cleveland may want a playmaker at the position. Where Wilson does stand out is his elusiveness with the ball in his hands and he pairs that with good speed and route running.
- Baltimore Ravens- Jordan Davis, DL, Georgia
The run stuffing aspect of Davis is what the Ravens will be drafting. They are potentially losing Williams and Campbell to free agency, so they need to replace them. However, the tape shows that Davis has a very quick first step and may have a lot more pass rushing upside than people give him credit for. Do not be surprised if he approaches ten or more sacks in a couple seasons in his career.
- Philadelphia Eagles (Originally Dolphins)- Tyler Linderbaum, IOL, Iowa
The first of three picks for the Eagles, they need to replace the aging parts of their offensive line. They could shock the draft and take a quarterback, but as of now we do not see them doing that. Linderbaum can move to guard to replace Brooks in case Jason Kelce comes back. If Kelce retires he can step in and replace a legend with an All Pro style of play.
- Philadelphia Eagles (Originally Colts)- Jermaine Johnson, EDGE, Florida State
The second of their three picks, we see them going for an edge rusher. They do not take linebackers, ever, so why would this year be any different. Instead they go for what we feel is the best run defender in the edge class, who can also flash the power to be a good pass rusher in time. He can stand up or put his hand in the dirt for the Eagles
- Los Angeles Chargers- Devin Lloyd, LB, Utah
The linebacker slide stops here for this year’s group. The Chargers have more pressing needs, but Lloyd offers perhaps the most flexibility of any linebacker in this draft class. He is in the mold of Micah Parsons, as he can rush and cover and play outside backer and inside. He may be more Jamie Collins than Micah, but that is still a great player for the Chargers to deploy all over the defense.
- New Orleans Saints- Sam Howell, QB, UNC
New Orleans is in trouble. They need to embrace a full rebuild, yet they are restructuring contracts and making their cap situation worse down the line. One thing is clear though, they need a quarterback. They may not be able to afford a free agent, and need one on a rookie deal to solve their cap woes. Howell is our QB1, and steps in to run a similar offense to Brees, while carrying much more athletic potential. He makes all the throws, is a great runner, and shows high character and good leadership. They need many more things on this team, and the Saints may need to trade up to get him, but Howell seems like a natural fit.
- Philadelphia Eagles- Daxton Hill, S/Nickel, Michigan
The final of the three picks for Eagles is here. While they may go receiver, this class is deep and value can be found in the second. Our bet is on the secondary and we are going with who we think will be a huge riser in Daxton Hill. He should test extremely well, and offers more versatility as a nickel and safety hybrid. The Eagles fill one of their vacant safety spots with a ton of speed and potential.
- Pittsburgh Steelers- Malik Willis, QB, Liberty
In a mock without trades, Malik Willis is here for the Steelrs. In reality, they will almost definitely have to trade up for him to get him. Willis has so much potential, but so much to work on so he will take time. The news that they may roll with Rudolph and Haskins is laughable and would be a horrible decision. Drafting Willis and signing a veteran would be the best move for the Steelers.
- New England Patriots- Nakobe Dean, LB, Georgia
Dean screams Patriots. He probably has the talent to go earlier, but he is undersized and there are just more pressing needs for all the teams above. As of this moment, both Hightower and Bentley are free agents, and drafting Dean would bring in an immediate starter to replace them. He can do a lot of what Hightower did, although in a smaller frame. This pick continues the recent trend of the Pats trying to win with defense.
- Las Vegas Raiders- Drake London, WR, USC
There is a lot of speculation about the Raiders signing one of the big free agent wide receivers. Until this happens though, we have them taking the towering receiver in what is a steal at this point. London is very similar to Mike Evans, and can also play in the same outside receiver role that Waller does in the case he gets hurt. It just adds another dimension to the Raiders who are extremely thin at the position.
- Arizona Cardinals- Jameson Williams, WR, Alabama
The Cardinals are a mess right now. All of this news surrounding Kyler is rough. Assuming he stays in Arizona, they need a new WR to pair with Hopkins. Jameson Williams was trending as the top of the class before tearing his ACL. While I do not think he is the best in the class regardless, he is still a steal at this pick as long as his surgery recovery is going as planned.
- Dallas Cowboys- Roger McCreary, CB, Auburn
The Cowboys need to address the secondary. Diggs is extremely overrated and may actually be a really good safety if he moves there and Anthony Brown is Eli Apple like. McCreary is the next corner up for us and while he may be nothing super special, even average is better than Anthony Brown.
- Buffalo Bills- Trent McDuffie, CB, Washington
Buffalo has a luxury pick here. They could go receiver or secondary. Their corner room beyond White is shallow so another body there would hopefully help a secondary that got obliterated by the Chiefs in the playoffs. McDuffie is the last of the corners for us with a first round grade and should start sooner rather than later.
- Tennessee Titans- David Ojabo, EDGE, Michigan
Ojabo has the talent to be a top 15 pick, but he may be the most scheme specific rusher in this class. He is a pure speed rusher who is still new to the game. The Titans would be a perfect fit, where they are losing a similar player to free agency in Harold Landry. It may take a few years for him to realize his potential as was the same with Landry, but the potential is huge.
- Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Chris Olave, WR, Ohio State
Our WR 1 in this class. Olave is an elite route runner. He uses moves already that some people take years to master in college. He seems to have better speed than people think and he just reminds me so much of Justin Jefferson. An elite route runner who was discounted because people did not think he was fast and that he was not super flashy like some of the other players in his class. That is Olave. He fills the Godwin role and immediately can be a 120 target guy or more.
- Green Bay Packers- George Pickens, WR, Georgia
Pickens missed most of this season due to injury. But he is physically a massive upside receiver. He has the speed, size, and ball tracking abilities to be an elite downfield weapon for the Packers. On top of this, he is a very good run blocker if the Packers want to change their offense some. There could be safer receivers taken here, but Pickens is a swing for them at the end of the first in hopes that he is something special.
- Miami Dolphins (Originally 49ERS)- Bernhard Raimann, OT, Central Michigan
The depth of the Miami line is brutal. They need more protection as they try to convince themselves that Tua is their guy. The guard here may be better, but their real need is at tackle. Raimann has some work to do, but he can come in and start if needed and can hopefully develop under way. McDaniel was brought in it seems to maximize Tua, and he cannot do that if he is rushed all the time.
- Kansas City Chiefs- Jaquan Brisker, S, Penn State
Kansas City has a few things they could address, but Honey Badger being a free agent is a big one. He can probably get a bigger pay day if he goes elsewhere so he may elect not to return. If this is the case, they need to replace him. Brisker is in a similar mold, and can start day one for the Chiefs if he is needed.
- Cincinnati Bengals- Zion Johnson, OG, Boston College
They need offensive lineman. Everyone knows this. They ideally want a tackle, but the value is not here. Also, Donald bullied the guards in the super bowl, so a replacement is needed there as well. Johnson is not the finished product you want, but the Bengals cannot be picky. He most likely starts immediately.
- Detroit Lions (Originally Rams)- Devonte Wyatt, DL, Georgia
Wyatt is one of the more flexible players in this draft. He can stand up if needed, can be an end, and can also rush inside. The Lions passed on one of the pass rushers with their first pick, but they pick up a player that can help their rough defensive line to pair with decent edge rushers.
